CNOOC Apologizes for ConocoPhillips Oil Spill

CNOOC Ltd. was informed that CNOOC, in addition to assisting and urging ConocoPhillips to perform related work on the disposal of Penglai 19 3 oil spill, will also proceed to reflect on the accident from three aspects.

CNOOC stated that the first is to strengthen the supervision of cooperation projects. Second, the accident will be used as an alarm to increase awareness of responsibility. The third is to effectively protect the public's right to know. CNOOC will continue to publish information on oil spill incidents, notify the latest situation of accident disposal, and accept media and public inquiries and interviews.

CNOOC apologized for failing to effectively prevent the oil spill. CNOOC stated that although CNOOC is not an accident party, as a national oil company, it needs to further strengthen its supervisory functions. CNOOC will handle the incident follow-up related matters in a positive attitude of being responsible to the country, responsible to the society, responsible to the environment, and responsible for the safety of people's lives and property.
