Car exhaust is one of the culprits
The formation of smog mainly comes from various sources such as automobile exhaust, industrial discharge, construction dust, garbage incineration, etc., which is usually caused by a mixture of various pollution sources. In different regions, the sources of haze vary.
Zhang Ping, chairman of the National Renewable Energy Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance and president of the China Renewable Energy Industry Association, said that automobile pollution emissions are one of the important sources of PM2.5 in the air, and PM2.5 emissions of automobiles account for about PM2.5. 20% to 30% of total emissions. For the source analysis of PM2.5 in Beijing, the “contribution†of automobiles is generally considered to be between 10% and 50%, and most of them are considered to be between 20% and 30%.
Zhang Ping added that car emissions of nitrogen oxides and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) accounted for 42% and 32% of the total emissions of nitrogen oxides and VOCs, respectively. Nitrogen oxides and VOCs can not only produce photochemical reactions in the atmosphere to produce O3, but also produce secondary nitrates and secondary organic aerosols, thereby increasing the degree of haze and further aggravating the damage.
Biodiesel assists in car rearrangement
Zhang Ping said that the low sulfur content of biodiesel also causes low emissions of sulfur dioxide and sulfides from combustion. Its sulfur dioxide and sulphide emissions can be reduced by about 30% compared to petrodiesel (70% reduction with catalyst); biodiesel contains no environmentally polluting aromatic alkanes, and the exhaust gas is less harmful to humans than petrodiesel. At the same time, biodiesel has a high oxygen content, and its carbon monoxide emission is reduced by about 10% compared with petrochemical diesel (95% reduction with catalyst); biodiesel has high biodegradability, and biodiesel emissions are reduced by 20%. ~75%.
Due to the advantages of biodiesel, the use of biodiesel blended fuels can effectively improve the environmental performance of diesel engines. Shanghai Zhongqi Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. participated in the practice of driving 135,500 kilometers of biodiesel for 104 buses in Shanghai. Yang Jianbin, the company's director, said that in the actual road emission test, the use of blended fuel blended with 10% biodiesel in China III, IV and V will reduce 5% of carbon monoxide emissions and 10% of particulate pollutant emissions, while engine pistons. There is no carbon deposit on the surface of key components such as valves and fuel injectors.
Zhang Ping introduced that biodiesel has been valued by countries all over the world for its superior regenerative, clean and safe advantages. The use of biodiesel blending fuel has been used as a mainstream means of reducing emissions in developed countries, and many countries require petrochemical diesel to be added to the market without the addition of biodiesel. For biodiesel blended fuels, the proportion of biodiesel is regulated by many countries: 5% to 7% in the EU-27, 5% to 20% in the US, 2% to 5% in Canada, and 5% in Thailand. It is 7%, South Africa is 2%, etc.
Zhang Ping said that the production of biodiesel from waste edible oils and fats is a resource-based means of mature technology, high conversion efficiency and high added value of products. The amount of discarded edible oils and fats in China is huge. It is estimated that the amount of waste oil produced accounts for 20% to 30% of the consumption of edible oil. Based on China's edible oil consumption of 28.75 million tons in 2014, it can produce 5.75 million to 8.62 million tons of waste oil per year. The conversion rate of biodiesel from waste oils such as waste oil can be 75% to 80%, and about 7 million tons of biodiesel can be produced every year.
Zhang Ping pointed out that due to the backward detection and analysis technology and the difficulty of law enforcement supervision, the return of a large number of discarded edible oils and fats through the underground industry chain has become one of the ills affecting China's food safety. In this regard, the government should rely on the biodiesel industry to build a “ditch oil†resource utilization main channel, which can completely solve the problem of “ditch oil†returning to the table, and can help to lower the flood, which can be described as two birds with one stone.
The smog is so big and there is a new variety. Try biodiesel.
Recently, another round of heavy fog is sweeping across many places in northern China. The smog struck once again disrupted the order of industrial production and the lives of the people. People were worried about the dangers of smog on human health. And how to cure it has once again become a hot topic of discussion. Recently, China Chemical News reporter interviewed experts in the renewable energy industry and learned that since biodiesel raw materials are derived from waste oil and have low sulfur and emission reduction characteristics, biodiesel blending fuel obtained by blending petrochemical diesel oil can be used. Helping cars to reduce emissions is meaningful for reducing smog.
