In 2000, the export of machine tools was 4.38 million units, a year-on-year increase of 29.1%; the value was 299 million US dollars, an increase of 31.4%. In 2005, the export data reached 6.82 million units and 821 million US dollars, respectively, with a growth rate of 10.6% and 52.4%. In the first eight months of this year, China exported 5.79 million machine tools and 1.047 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 15.4% and 44.8%. It can be seen that the growth rate of China's machine tool export value has gradually accelerated. The compound growth rate for the past five years was 32.54%.

1. Export unit price increases rapidly

Compared with the increase in the number of exports, the export value has increased even faster. Therefore, the average unit price of China's export machine tools is increasing year by year. In the past 10 years and 5 years, the average annual compound growth rate of machine tool export orders was 14.86% and 11.69%, respectively, which were much lower than the annual average growth rate of export value.

The average unit price of machine tool exports has increased rapidly since 2002. In 2002, the average export price was US$56.39 per unit. In the first eight months of this year, the average export price was US$180.89 per unit, an increase of 2.21 times. However, the absolute amount of export machine price is still low, which is intrinsically linked to the quality and grade of machine tools exported from China. The number of export machine tools in China is increasing year by year, but about 95% of the export machine tools are cheap tool products. Even for CNC machine tools, China's average export price is about 1/4 to 1/6 of the average import price.

2. There is huge room for future export growth.

We expect China's machine tool exports to continue to grow rapidly in the next few years. First, the increase in export unit prices indicates that the structure of export products is changing. The transition from ordinary machine tools to CNC machine tools, from popular CNC machine tools to economical CNC machine tools is the direction of the current and future machine tool export structure changes.
With the continuous upgrading of export product structure, the export value will increase rapidly.

Secondly, in the context of the transfer of industries such as ships and construction machinery to the domestic market, the production tools and tools of these industries will also be transferred to China. At present, China's machine tool export output value only accounts for about 18% of the domestic production output value, and there is still much room for growth in the future. Especially in the context of domestic machine tool output accounting for less than half of the total domestic machine tool consumption, with the rapid growth of the industry's output value and the increase in the proportion of exports, machine tool exports will grow rapidly.

Finally, export is a means for domestic machine tool leading enterprises to increase their international competitiveness and market share. On the one hand, domestic leading machine tool enterprises rapidly expand their scale through international acquisitions and domestic restructuring, on the other hand, through independent re-increment, enhance R&D strength, improve product technical content and market competitiveness, and export and replace imports on a large scale to improve the international market.
