Sino-Russian crude oil pipeline completed and officially operated on November 1

The Sino-Russian crude oil pipeline, which has caught the attention of all parties, has finally reached the date of completion. According to the oil pipeline transportation agreement previously signed by China and Russia, this pipeline will transport 15 million tons of crude oil to China each year in the next 20 years. This will not only greatly ease China’s shortage of oil resources, but will also make China and Russia the next step. Lay the foundation for cooperation in other energy fields.

China Petroleum officials said at the completion ceremony that as the first crude oil pipeline between Russia and China, Sino-Russian crude oil pipeline will be put into operation on November 1 this year.

The pipeline starts from Russia's Far East pipeline Skovorodino transfer station, through the Russian border Garinda station crossing Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, and ultimately reached Daqing, the pipeline length of about 1,000 kilometers, designed annual oil delivery 15 million tons.

For a long time, the crude oil trade between China and Russia has been mainly transported by rail. Despite Russia’s efforts to expand railway capacity in recent years, the trade volume of crude oil is still limited. For this reason, the Chinese and Russian sides began to explore the possibility of building a dedicated crude oil pipeline long ago.

Lu Nanquan, deputy director of the Russian Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that this oil pipeline, which has been placed in high hopes by countless people, has finally been completed. This is of great significance to both countries. He told reporters that in the future, the cooperation between the two countries in other energy fields, including natural gas, coal, and electricity, will also open up space. In this sense, the Sino-Russian crude oil pipeline is a new starting point.
