Main advantages and disadvantages of induction heating

Local heating is selectively performed without the need for integral heating, so that the workpiece is less deformed and consumes less power.

· The heating speed is fast, the surface of the workpiece is oxidized and decarburized, and most of the workpieces do not need gas protection.

· The surface hardened layer can be controlled by adjusting the operating frequency and power of the equipment as needed. Therefore, the martensite structure of the hardened layer is fine, and the hardness, strength and toughness are high.

· The workpiece after heat treatment by induction heating has a thicker toughness zone downstream of the hard surface layer, which has better compressive internal stress, which makes the workpiece more resistant to fatigue and breaking.

· The heating equipment is easy to install on the production line, easy to mechanize and automate, easy to manage, can effectively reduce transportation, save manpower and improve production efficiency.

· One machine is multi-purpose. Quenching, annealing, tempering, normalizing, quenching and other heat treatment processes can be completed, and welding, smelting, hot assembly, thermal disassembly and diathermy forming can be completed.

· Easy to use, easy to operate, can be turned on or off at any time. There is no need to warm up.

· It can be operated manually or semi-automatically and fully automatically. It can work continuously for a long time, or it can be used immediately and randomly. It is beneficial to the use of equipment in the low price of power supply.

· High energy utilization rate, environmental protection and energy saving, safe and reliable, workers working conditions are good, the state advocates.

· Although, it also has some shortcomings. For example, the equipment is relatively complicated, the cost of one input is relatively high, the interchangeability and adaptability of the sensing components (induction coils) are poor, and it is not suitable for application on more complicated shapes. However, its comprehensive index is good, and its advantages are obviously more than its shortcomings. Therefore, inductive heating is currently a major process in metal processing. It is an ideal alternative to coal heating, oil heating, gas heating, electric furnace heating, electric oven heating and other heating methods.
