Tundish plasma heating technology

The importance of tundish steel temperature control is reflected in the following three aspects.

Continuous casting process requirements: continuous casting practice shows that the molten steel in the continuous casting process must have a suitable and stable temperature, which directly affects the productivity of continuous casting and the quality of the slab and the quality of the product. However, in many continuous casting operating parameters, molten steel temperature or superheat is one of the most unpredictable factors. The only way is to use an external heat source to regulate the temperature of the molten steel to ensure a suitable and stable temperature or superheat of the continuous casting process.

The operability of the tundish heating: the tundish is the intermediate container between the ladle and the crystallizer, and is the last step of regulating the molten steel entering the crystallizer. Compared with ladle heating, such as LF furnace, the capacity of the tundish is small, the capacity of the heating equipment is not large; it can be operated online, it will not affect the production rhythm, and it is also beneficial to increase the output. Therefore, the tundish heating technology is used to regulate the temperature of the molten steel, so that the superheat of the molten steel can be controlled within the target temperature range.

The advantages of tundish heating: it can reduce the temperature fluctuation of molten steel in the tundish, realize the constant temperature casting with low superheat, which is conducive to stable pulling speed and improve product quality. It can extend the continuous pouring time, which is beneficial to increase the yield and productivity; avoid premature solidification, and prevent accidents such as nodulation, freezing, returning to the furnace, stopping pouring, etc. It can reduce the tapping temperature of steelmaking by about 15~20 °C, which is conducive to energy saving and material refractory.

Metallurgical effect

The metallurgical effect of TPH is mainly: the temperature of the tundish steel can be controlled within ±5 °C of the target temperature; the inclusion index of the slab is reduced by 45%, that is, from 1.0 to 0.55; the nozzle freezing is reduced, and the freezing furnace is reduced. The number was reduced from 3.2% to 2.0%.
