Effect of Iron Containing on Casting Aluminum Alloy YL102 on Electrical Conductivity

Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology studied the influence of the impurity element Fe on the electrical conductivity of the cast aluminum alloy YL102. Through the optimization of the internal structure of the casting, the electrical conductivity of the alloy reached the requirements of high-voltage electrical switch parts. The results show:

1. Since si has an adverse effect on the electrical conductivity of cast aluminum alloys, cast aluminum alloys with lower si content should be used for castings requiring high electrical conductivity. But casting aluminum alloy YLl02 is suitable for high voltage electrical switch parts.

2. The increase of Fe content in the cast aluminum alloy will cause the electrical conductivity of the casting to decrease. When the ω(Fe)<0.7% in the cast aluminum alloy, the flaky Al-FeSiAl5-Si eutectic structure is usually formed. When ω(Fe)>0.7% is cast in Altaijin, needle-like FeSiAl5 and primary crystal structure will appear, which will reduce the mechanical properties and electrical conductivity of the cast aluminum alloy. When "(Fe)> 1.47%, the electrical conductivity decreases obviously, therefore, castings with high requirements for electrical conductivity should strictly control the iron content in the raw materials, and in addition, measures should be taken to prevent the aluminum alloy from adding iron to ensure the aluminum during production. Taijin's iron content is not higher than 1.0%.

3, from the test results, as long as strict control of production in the increase in Fe content, casting aluminum alloy YLl02 can meet the electrical conductivity of high-voltage electrical switch parts requirements.
